Introspection


When the chips are down
And stagnant lies your life
You reach a stage
Where you introspect 

You first take a look 
At life scattered around 
And try to make sense 
Of what might have gone wrong 

Running round in circles 
Days spent  in confusion 
Blaming  all else
But now it's time to move on

There is indeed a silver lining 
In every dark cloud
Even this ordeal
Has added to your strength 

Be bold  and stand tall
Take that first  step
Pick up the pieces
This world  belongs to you 

Look around 
Life is with you 
Claim what is yours
You deserve so much  more

A stinging behind my eyes The unshed tears  I will not shed them For I'm  well over the pain I often stand apart And watch my emotions  broil Wondering  at times Why my eyes still  feel the strain Who should I  trust My eyes or my heart Do my eyes reflect my heart Or independently cry I thought I was well over The  angst and the hurt But it creeps on me  unawares At moments,weak ,unguarded At a touch of genuine solicitude From another unbidden At a look of true concern that says What happened to you, my dear I look upon these feelings  The metacognition empowering I am my own lab rat I search for meaning within Telling myself I am strong  I pull  up my spine  Push back my shoulders  And hold my head high

Face to Face

I delude myself In many little ways I smile When people mouth inanities I nod Even when I disagree To argue is exhausting He  will not He sticks to his values And retorts hotly He will not smile If he be offended He glares at my follies And shakes his head in disgust My mask slips a little When worn too long I then grow silent Giving myself time I don it again and smile He looks at me with knowing eyes A trace of disbelief arching his brows I look at him and smile cheerfully My face carefully made Who is wiser He or I?
